Keep in touch with an email newsletter
With many businesses facing higher than ever competition, it is increasingly important for all of us to stay in touch with clients and prospects. Regular contact with clients and prospects will ensure that your company remains at the forefront of their list of potential suppliers when looking for the products or services that you provide.
One of the best ways to do so is to send regular news, promotions, help and advice directly by email, not just in plain emails, as those would likely be lost in mailboxes, but by sending branded email newsletters that will stand out and reinforce your company branding.
A successful email newsletter will encourage that all important repeat business, but requires careful consideration as you don’t want people to delete it without even reading it.
Here are a few tips on how to make your email newsletter a success:
- Always give your users the option to opt-out / unsubscribe.
- Make it stand out with an attractive design that reinforces your company branding.
- Make it interesting, give useful information such as news, promotions and advice.
- Get to the point, short informative articles will keep your readers interested – you can always add a ‘read more’ link for people who want to know more.
- Keep it simple, don’t use technical jargon that not everyone will understand.
- Send them at regular intervals for consistency, once a month is a good guide for most companies as it gives you time to get new content but isn’t too far apart so people wont get a chance to forget you.
- Target what you send to different groups of contacts, don’t send everything to everyone!
- Always link it to your website to increase traffic to your site and as an option for more information.
- And finally – use a spell checker!
