How to make the most of your exhibition space
So, you have decided that to best promote your business this year, you should exhibit at least in one trade related event. You have booked your space, but are not sure of how to make the most of your investment. Let me help you by giving you, first some advice on what not to do, and secondly some simple rules to follow for an effective exhibition stand design.
What not to do:
- Do not turn your stand into a bulletin board, full of signs, adverts, and brochures with no real order or discipline. This will make your stand look messy and visitors will walk passed without stopping.
- Do not pack too much into too little space! Remember that people need space to feel welcome, the more space there is the more people you can welcome into your booth at any one time.
What you should do:
- Keep it simple
- Make sure that everything can be seen and read from at least 4m away.
- Make it attractive, innovative, memorable, colourful
- Minimise the number of words and maximise the use of pictures
- Make sure that your main message is always kept above waist level
- Don’t forget product demos/samples
- Moving images attract attention, use animations but not too much of it!
- Invite people to come and visit the show before it takes place
- Give visitors something memorable to take away, not just your business card
- Don’t forget to contact all visitors after the show
