What to do if you have to postpone your event

Posted: 29/04/2020 By: Samui Admin Tags:

The Covid19 pandemic has resulted in many events, large and small, being postponed by months, sometimes years. This can leave you, the organisers, anxious, but there are a number of things that you can do to make the most of this difficult situation:

  1. the delay gives you additional time to organise a better prepared event
  2. you can make use of new technology to organise partial virtual access to your event at the time it is due to take place so as not to lose the interest of your participants.

At Samui we have developed a number of tools and services to help our clients turn the difficult decisions they had to make to delay their events into opportunities. For example:

  • you can add a virtual tour of your exhibition hall to your website to give exhibitors the possibility of presenting information about their business and access to their website and social media accounts long before the event itself (see https://floodrisk2020.net/sponsors--exhibitors/ for more information)
  • you can organise special sessions online at the dates the event would have taken place to maintain interest in the event despite the long delay
  • you can publish digital newspapers / newsletters about the event again to maintain interest in the event and we can provide you with a very easy to use tool to write and publish this newsletter yourself
  • you can reopen your abstract / paper submission process and we can provide you with a very easy to use tool for this to attract more participants and more factual content  to your event
  • you can pre-launch your event APP now to give easy - one-click access to information regarding your event

These are just a few examples of what can be done to make your event a success despite the difficult times we are all currently experiencing. We would be happy to discuss these and other ideas in more details with you, so don't hesitate to contact us on contact@samui.co.uk
